Young Chang sizing note (so you order the right fit):

Young Chang grands are commonly referenced by model/length (for example G-157, G-175, G-185, and sometimes Y/PG markings depending on era/series). If you’re unsure which size you have, you can find the model of your piano stamped on the inside brass plate. It's typically located in the right corner of the piano, in front of the piano keyboard. Below is an example of the G-150 model stamp (and you can use the chart above to see that the piano measures 4'11-1/2"). If you cannot find the model of your piano, measure from the front edge of the keyboard to the farthest point of the tail (you want the longest possible measurement), then select the matching size from the drop-down menu above.

Young Chang grands are known for their clean, modern look—many are finished in a high-polish polyester that can show dust and fine micro-scratches over time. Our covers include a soft, non-abrasive inner lining to help protect that mirror-like finish from daily dust contact, sunlight, and handling when the piano is not being played.

Side Slits for piano cover

Side Slits

Side slits are designed to allow you to play the piano without having to take the entire cover off. Side Slits are put on each side of the piano cover, above the front legs. This allows the pianist to simply flip the front part of the cover back to play the piano, without having to completely remove the entire cover. This provides a seamless and convenient solution for those who require frequent access to their piano, without compromising on its protection. A very popular option, and added to the majority of covers.

Embroidery (Logo)

For the ultimate look of luxury, we recommend custom embroidery for your piano cover. For an additional fee, we can embroider the piano brand logo on either the front of the cover above the keys, or on the right sideboard of the piano (located above the leg on the sideboard). A great way to highlight your beautiful instrument, even when it's covered. Embroidery comes standard in gold thread. Custom colors are available upon request.

piano cover locking straps

Locking Straps

Locking straps are a popular option when the piano is in an area where people will want to remove the cover and play it. The straps keep the cover in place, and act as an effective barrier against tampering. Many schools, hotels, resorts and churches add this option to ensure their piano stays safe and secure.

How do locking straps work? There are 3 straps sewn into the cover--one by each of the front legs and one at the back of the piano. The straps meet underneath the piano in the middle, forming a "Y" shape (note larger covers will use 4 straps, forming an "X" shape). At the end of each strap is a plastic D-ring. You turn one of the rings sideways and insert it through the other D-ring. When you turn it back, they will now be interconnected (as shown in the picture below). The cover is now securely on the piano, and the straps need to be disconnected in order to remove the cover and play. Note that if you need additional security, you can add a padlock to the D-rings, completely preventing someone from removing the cover without having the key to the padlock.

Frequently Asked Questions

What model Young Chang piano do I have (G-157, G-175, G-185, Y-131, etc.)?

On most Young Chang pianos, the model is printed on the plate (harp) or on a decal inside the instrument. On grands, you’ll commonly see models like G-150, G-157, G-175, or G-185. If you can’t find the model, use your measurements to confirm before ordering a Young Chang piano cover.

Can a cover help with sticky keys or humidity sensitivity on older Young Chang grands?

A cover won’t fix mechanical issues (and some older Young Chang grands are discussed for humidity-related action problems, including “expanding action bracket” complaints). What a cover can do is reduce dust and slow rapid day-to-day exposure; for humidity control, use a room humidifier/dehumidifier or a dedicated piano humidity system.

My piano says “Weber,” not Young Chang—will your Young Chang-sized covers fit?

Young Chang has manufactured pianos under the Weber brand for decades. In most cases, a 5'1" Weber grand is built on the same frame as a 5'1" Young Chang (commonly W150/W157/W175/W185 corresponding to Y150/Y157/Y175/Y185).

However, we have a dedicated Weber piano cover page. Please order for your Weber protective cover there.

Why is it important to cover a high-polish Young Chang piano?

Many Young Chang pianos are sold in polished ebony/mahogany high-gloss finishes. Dust can create micro-scratches during wiping, and sunlight can fade finishes over time. A soft-lined cover reduces dust contact and day-to-day abrasion.

Will a cover fit my Young Chang if it has the "Fandrich" scale design?

Yes. Many Young Chang pianos have featured a design by Delwin Fandrich. While this improved the bass response and soundboard performance, the external case dimensions remained consistent with the professional-grade grand piano standards.

Where can I find the serial number on my Young Chang to verify its age?

On Young Chang grand pianos, the serial number is usually located on the gold-colored cast-iron plate (the "harp"), often near the tuning pins or stamped on the soundboard visible through the strings. Identifying the age can help determine if you have an older "G" series or a newer "Y" series, though our covers are designed to fit the specific cabinet length regardless of the year.
